Novita Hardini pushes for more targeted MSME financing schemes

Jakarta (ANTARA) - House of Representatives Commission VII member Novita Hardini has urged the government and banks to develop financing schemes that match the needs of MSMEs and creative economy players.

“We must not end up with a creative ecosystem that looks large, while local MSME players are not actually a major part of its supply chain. This must become a shared task,” Novita said in her statement in Jakarta on Saturday.

According to Novita, strengthening the creative economy ecosystem needs to be carried out comprehensively, from access to capital, protection of works, integration with the tourism sector, to market certainty.

She said the business character of creative economy players differs from conventional sectors because many rely on works, creativity, and intellectual property.

“We need to find more appropriate financing patterns so that creative economy players obtain equal rights and opportunities in accessing capital,” she said.

Novita cited conditions in Tabanan Regency, Bali, which show there is still a gap in the distribution of financing to business players in certain sectors.

According to her, the issue needs to be examined to determine whether it is influenced by administrative obstacles, financing requirements, or banking schemes that do not yet match the characteristics of creative businesses.

Novita conducted a working visit to Nuanu Creative City Inc in Tabanan Regency, Bali, on Friday (28/8).

She said Bali has a large tourism and creative economy market. However, that market is not yet fully connected to local MSME players through a sustainable supply chain, including in access to financing and capital.

“We are not actually short of markets. There are plenty of markets, but there is still a gap between the size of the tourism market and how much economic benefit actually reaches local MSMEs,” Novita said.
