Novelist set to go global
SEMARANG, Central Java: Ronggeng Dukuh Paruk, a best-selling Indonesian trilogy of novels about the life of a traditional women dancer in the late 1960s, will soon be available in English and other foreign languages.
Author Ahmad Tohari said he has signed a contract with a publisher which will see the translation of the trilogy into eight languages.
He said he had many people to thank, including scholar Abdurrahman Wahid, for promoting his work overseas. (31)
