Jakarta - Former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan suspects that the motive behind the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus is being directed towards the personal sphere of the four TNI BAIS soldiers. “From the beginning, there has been concern that the handling of the planned attempted murder case against Andrie Yunus will be treated superficially, and the perpetrators will receive light sentences, because it is made to seem like the motive is personal,” Novel said via his X account on Wednesday (8/4/2026). Kompas.com has obtained permission from Novel Baswedan to quote the statement. He assessed this as very malicious because the perpetrators have not been fully processed, while the victim is being slandered. In this regard, Novel Baswedan admitted to being surprised by the transfer of the case files of the four TNI BAIS soldiers in the acid attack case against Andrie Yunus to the Military Prosecutor’s Office II-07 Jakarta. The TNI Military Police Centre (Puspom) transferred four Badan Intelijen Strategis (BAIS) TNI soldiers as perpetrators of the acid attack on the Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS), Andrie Yunus, to the Military Prosecutor’s Office (Otmil) II-07 Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Not only that, the Head of the TNI Information Centre (Kapuspen) Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah revealed that the case files and evidence were also transferred to Otmil II-07 Jakarta. “Puspom TNI investigators have completed the entire series of investigation processes in accordance with applicable regulations,” said Aulia in a TNI Information Centre (Puspen) press release, quoted by Kompas.com on Tuesday (7/4/2026). Aulia explained that subsequently, prosecutors from Otmil II-07 Jakarta will examine the completeness of the formal and material case files. If the files are deemed complete, said Aulia, Otmil II-07 Jakarta will transfer them to the Military Court II-08 Jakarta. “The suspects transferred number four people, namely with initials NDP, SL, BHW, ES along with evidence,” he revealed. According to Aulia, this transfer is part of the TNI’s commitment to professional, transparent, and accountable law enforcement, as well as a manifestation of firmness in addressing every criminal act committed by TNI soldiers.
