Nothing Reportedly Set to Launch Smart Glasses and Earbuds
Jakarta - Nothing is reportedly preparing to launch smart glasses and earbuds featuring artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to broaden its product range. According to TechCrunch on Thursday, the smart glasses are scheduled for release next year, equipped with a camera, microphone, and speaker, and connected to smartphones and cloud services to process various AI-based requests. Additionally, Nothing is said to be releasing AI-featured earbuds this year as part of its efforts to expand its product ecosystem. Nothing’s CEO and founder, Carl Pei, was previously reported as uninterested in developing smart glasses. However, he has now altered the company’s business strategy to extend its reach beyond smartphones and audio devices. Meta has already released several generations of smart glasses, while Apple and Google are reportedly set to launch their products soon. Nothing itself achieved unicorn status last year after securing $200 million in funding with a valuation of around $1.3 billion. Although known for its unique and transparent device designs, the British company’s market share in the smartphone industry remains relatively small compared to major players like Samsung, Apple, and Chinese firms. Carl Pei has previously emphasised that innovation in hardware, software, and the utilisation of AI is key for Nothing to compete in the technology market. The company has also introduced an AI-based tool that allows users to create simple applications through straightforward commands.
