The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) predicts that the first wave of the peak return flow for Eid al-Fitr 1447 H or 2026 will occur on Tuesday (24 March 2026). However, there is a second wave of the 2026 Eid return peak, namely on 28 and 29 March 2026.

Transport Minister Dudy Purwagandhi urges homecomers to avoid the peak return flow of Idulfitri 1447 H/Eid 2026, which falls on 24, 28, and 29 March 2026.

This was conveyed by the Transport Minister Dudy during an inspection of traffic flow on H+1 Eid 2026 at the Jasamarga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC), Jatiasih, Bekasi, on Sunday (22 March 2026).

“Based on the calculation data we obtained at JMTC, the peak return flow is predicted to fall on Tuesday, 24 March 2026, with an estimated volume of more than 285,000 vehicles. This number is larger than the peak outbound flow on 18 March 2026, which was 270,315 vehicles. Therefore, we urge the public to return to Jabotabek on 23 March 2026 by utilising the joint leave, or during the period of 25-27 March 2026 by taking advantage of the Work From Anywhere period encouraged by the Government,” said Dudy in his official statement, quoted on Monday (23 March 2026).

Dudy reiterated that by avoiding the peak return flow, traffic distribution will be more even, allowing the public to have a more comfortable travel experience and avoid potential congestion during the return flow.

In agreement with Transport Minister Dudy, on a separate occasion, the Head of the Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas Polri), Inspector General of Police Agus Suryonugroho, stated that there will be three peak return flows that homecomers must avoid.

The first peak return flow will occur on 24 March 2026, and the second and third peaks will occur on 28 and 29 March 2026.

“We predict those three days will be the peak return flow for Eid 2026. We urge the public to avoid those peak return times so that the homecoming flow services run safely, comfortably, and securely,” said Agus.

Meanwhile, the President Director of PT Jasa Marga (Persero) Tbk, Rivan Achmad Purwantono, requests cooperation from road users to utilise the return travel time following the Government’s guidance by planning a better journey.

“We request and ask all members of the public planning to return home to choose the return times recommended by the Government,” said Rivan.

Rivan added that homecomers can take advantage of the toll discount period during the return flow, namely 26-27 March 2026 on nine Jasa Marga toll roads, where this discount period applies outside the peak return flow.

“We also remind homecomers to take advantage of the 30% toll discount during the two-day return flow period, namely on 26-27 March 2026, on 9 Jasa Marga Group toll roads for continuous journeys. The aim is the same as recommended by the Transport Minister and the Head of Traffic Corps of the National Police, namely to control the distribution of return flow traffic volume and provide a more comfortable journey for the public,” revealed Rivan.

In addition, drivers of vehicles with three or more axles are urged to comply with the Joint Decree (SKB) of the Director General of Land Transportation (Dirjen Hubdat) of the Ministry of Transportation, the Head of Traffic Corps of the National Police, and the Director General of Highway Development of the Ministry of Public Works on 5 February 2026 Regarding Traffic Regulation and Crossing During the Eid Transportation Outbound and Return Flow Period for 2026/1447 H, related to restrictions on goods vehicle operations, including not passing through at the specified times, namely during the period of 13-29 March 2026.

Kemenhub, Korlantas Polri, and Jasa Marga also urge the public to anticipate the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H/2026 holiday travel period well.

Before entering the toll road, ensure that the vehicle and driver are in prime condition, use time wisely by utilising sufficient rest time at rest areas, ensuring sufficient fuel, electronic money card balance, and complying with signs and instructions from officers in the field.
