Note! Government Urges Public to Return Home from Lebaran on 25-27 March 2026

JAKARTA - The Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, has urged the public to undertake their return journeys from Lebaran 2026 on 25-27 March 2026. This is to avoid traffic density during the peak return flow, predicted to occur on 24, 28, and 29 March 2026. “The government has provided work from anywhere (WFA) on 25, 26, and 27 March, so all members of the public planning return trips are urged to do so on those dates,” Aan stated during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya in Jakarta on Friday (20/3/2026) evening. According to Aan, the government’s WFA policy aims to distribute vehicle movements to prevent accumulation at specific times. “Looking ahead, we will face the first wave of tourism flow, as on H+1, Indonesians will utilise this Lebaran holiday for tourism and agglomeration, so reports from all regional police chiefs indicate preparations are in place,” he explained. On the other hand, the government will continue to impose operational restrictions on goods transport during the return flow period, particularly for vehicles with three or more axles up to mining transport. “This is solely to reduce the volume of vehicles on the roads,” Aan said.
