JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The implementation of the Car Free Day (CFD) or Hari Bebas Kendaraan Bermotor (HBKB) on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta, will not take place this Sunday (May 17th, 2026).

The Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Department, Syafrin Liputo, said that the CFD on Rasuna Said will be held again in June 2026 after a number of field evaluations have been followed up.

The results of the evaluation show that the implementation of the CFD on Rasuna Said provides benefits for the community, both in terms of public space and environmental quality.

“The HBKB on Jalan HR Rasuna Said adds an alternative sports space and public space for the community. The results of air quality measurements around the location during the implementation of the HBKB were also recorded as being better than on working days,” said Syafrin in Jakarta, Saturday (May 16th, 2026).

“This condition shows that the HBKB on HR Rasuna Said can disperse the concentration of people gathering in Sudirman-Thamrin so that community activities are more spread out,” said Syafrin.

However, the implementation of the CFD on May 10th still left a number of evaluation notes, including the lack of turning points on the east and west sides of the corridor, the absence of Transjakarta lane dividers, and the continued presence of illegal parking in several locations.

In addition, the arrangement of MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) also needs to be improved because the activities of traders have expanded onto the road. Several road work projects on alternative routes are also still causing congestion.

The DKI Transportation Department also noted that there were still differences in road height levels after the dismantling of the monorail pillars and the concentration of community activities in the Plaza Festival area, causing runners and cyclists to be forced to use the Transjakarta bus lanes.

The DKI Provincial Government is also preparing a legal basis for the implementation of the HBKB on Jalan HR Rasuna Said.

“Improvements to supporting facilities and the regulation of community activities will be carried out so that the implementation of the HBKB on Rasuna Said can take place more safely, comfortably, and orderly,” said Syafrin.
