Note: 700,000 Return Trip Train Tickets for Eid 2026 Still Available
As many as 699,331 return trip tickets for Eid 2026 are still available until Saturday morning (21/3/2026). Based on data from PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero), 3.8 million Eid transport tickets have been sold, representing 84.5% of the total 4.5 million seats available. The train ticket quota is available for Long-Distance Trains (KA) and Local Trains during the period from 11 March 2026 to 1 April 2026. The breakdown of train tickets sold during the Eid 2026 holiday period is 3.3 million or 92.2% for Long-Distance KA and 438,203 tickets or 47.3% for Local KA. During the Eid transport homecoming period from 11-20 March 2026, KAI has served 1.7 million Long-Distance KA passengers and 302,561 Local KA passengers on Java and Sumatra, totalling 1.98 million passengers. Return trip train ticket purchases for 2026 can be made through KAI’s official channels, including the official KAI website and the Access by KAI application. In addition to the website and app, Eid 2026 KA tickets can also be purchased via KAI’s Contact Center 121 as well as official sales partners and online travel agents cooperating with KAI. On Saturday, 21 March 2026, at least 174,198 Long-Distance KA passengers are scheduled to travel, with a temporary occupancy rate reaching 108.1% for that day alone. This number still has the potential to increase as ticket sales continue. Furthermore, Anne added that occupancy rates above 100% are possible in long-distance train operations due to dynamic travel patterns within a single train set. “In a single long-distance train journey, one seat can be used by more than one passenger on different routes. This scheme allows the number of passengers served to be greater than the number of seats available on a single route,” she explained. Nevertheless, the public still has opportunities to obtain tickets for certain trips, especially for return journeys, through alternative routes, different departure schedules, or onward travel schemes. KAI also urges passengers to utilise connecting train services and choose more flexible travel dates to increase their chances of securing tickets. “With the remaining capacity available, KAI invites the public to immediately plan their return trips well so that the journey is more comfortable, smooth, and enjoyable with the train,” Anne concluded.
