Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - A number of programmes have been promised by President Prabowo Subianto for the Indonesian people. One of them is the construction of Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih (KNMP). The Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih programme aims to optimise the potential of the seas and fisheries to improve the welfare of fishermen and aquaculture farmers. Through targeted development, strengthening access to basic services, and community empowerment, this programme is expected to create fishermen’s villages and aquaculture villages that are more independent, competitive, and prosperous. According to Prabowo, he has promised to build 1,000 Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih this year. At the end of the year, he will check the total number of Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih that have been built. “Brothers and sisters, in two years or three years, you note it, right? There are recordings—whether Prabowo Subianto is just bragging, there are recordings. Everything I say has mathematical benchmarks,” Prabowo stated during the Working Meeting of the Government and Members of the Red White Cabinet at the Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/4/2026). “I said that I plan to build 1,000 fishermen’s villages. In December 2026 this year, we will check, brothers and sisters—you can hold Prabowo accountable for how many fishermen’s villages are completed,” he added. On that occasion, Prabowo emphasised that being the President of Indonesia is not an easy job. Prabowo admitted that he has already experienced being the number one person in Indonesia. “So standing here, brothers and sisters, don’t think this is an easy job. Those who want to be president, good luck—I’ve already committed,” he said.
