Not the Middle East: Iran and China "Suddenly" Attack Europe
Jakarta - The war in the Middle East continues to heat up, following the joint attack by the United States (US) and Israel on Iran on 28 February 2026.
The attack reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei along with several other high-ranking officials. Iran responded by launching retaliatory strikes on US military bases in the Middle East region.
Not only that, Iran also closed the Strait of Hormuz, which is a crucial global trade route, particularly for oil distribution. This closure has triggered a surge in global oil prices, with potential widespread impacts on various economic sectors.
Amid the physical war occurring in the Middle East, the European Union (EU) suddenly announced that countries in its region have been subjected to cyberattacks from China and Iran.
The European Union (EU) has officially imposed sanctions on three companies based in China and Iran related to cyberattacks against its member states.
In its official statement, the EU has placed two Chinese companies, namely Integrity Technology Group and Anxun Information Technology, as well as the Iranian company Emennet Pasargad, on its blacklist.
The EU revealed that Integrity Technology Group is suspected of being involved in hacking more than 65,000 devices spread across six member countries, as quoted from Reuters on Sunday (22/3/2026).
Meanwhile, Anxun Information Technology is said to provide hacking services targeting vital infrastructure. Even the two founders of the company have been individually sanctioned.
Not only that, the Iranian company Emennet Pasargad is accused of being involved in spreading disinformation by hacking billboards during the Paris 2024 Olympics.
As a form of punishment, the EU has imposed sanctions in the form of asset freezes and travel bans for the individuals involved.
In addition, all citizens and companies in the European Union region are prohibited from providing financial support to the sanctioned entities.
