Not Only Indonesians: Ireland's President's Younger Sister Also Kidnapped by Israel
London — Catherine Connolly’s younger sister, the President of Ireland, has been reported to be among the activists from the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) bound for the Gaza Strip who were seized by Israeli forces. The Irish Independent reported that, according to activists, Margaret Connolly was one of six Irish nationals on the flotilla who were kidnapped by Israel.
According to Global Sumud Flotilla, ten of the sixty ships taking part in the Gaza humanitarian voyage were intercepted and seized by Israeli forces in international waters on Monday. They said the interception occurred about 70 nautical miles from the island of Cyprus, with six of the fifteen Irish participants captured.
The coalition subsequently released a video showing Connolly and five other activists recorded before the interception.
‘If you watch this video, it means I have been kidnapped from my ship by the Israeli occupier forces, and I am currently illegally detained in an Israeli prison,’ the president of Ireland’s sister says in the video.
‘I am very proud to participate in this flotilla, the largest to date,’ she added.
