Not Only Extorting Department Heads, Tulungagung Regent Also Rigged Project Tender Winners

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects Tulungagung Regent Gatut Sunu Wibowo of arranging winners in the procurement of cleaning and security services within the Tulungagung Regency Government, East Java. “GSW is suspected of arranging for certain contractors to win the procurement of cleaning service and security services in the regional apparatus organisations of Tulungagung Regency,” stated Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the KPK, Asep Guntur Rahayu, at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Saturday night. Additionally, the KPK also suspects Gatut Sunu of arranging winners in the procurement of medical equipment at the regional public hospital (RSUD). Asep explained that these suspicions were obtained after investigators conducted intensive examinations of several parties before designating Gatut Sunu as a suspect in the alleged extortion case. Previously, the KPK carried out a sting operation (OTT) in the Tulungagung area, East Java, on 10 April 2026. In that operation, the KPK secured 18 people, including Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his younger brother, who is also a member of the Tulungagung DPRD, Jatmiko Dwijo Saputro. The following day, on 11 April 2026, the KPK brought Gatut Sunu along with his brother and 11 others to Jakarta for further examination. On the same day, the KPK designated Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, as suspects in the alleged extortion and other receptions case within the Tulungagung Regency Government for the 2025–2026 fiscal year.
