Not Only Ensuring Jakarta's Children Stay in School, KJP Plus Also Helps Meet Nutritional Needs
REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – The Kartu Jakarta Pintar (KJP) Plus programme has become one of the educational assistance initiatives that is greatly felt by the community. Not only does it lighten the burden of education costs, but the programme also helps meet the nutritional needs of student participants.
One parent beneficiary of KJP Plus, Nofitasari (46 years old), admitted that she is greatly helped by the programme organised by the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov) more than a decade ago. Especially since her child now attends a private vocational high school (SMK) that is not free.
“It helps a lot. Especially since my child goes to a private school, so half of the school fee (SPP) is covered by KJP,” said Nofitasari when contacted by Republika on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
She explained that every month she can receive educational assistance funds of more than Rp600,000 from the KJP Plus programme. Rp240,000 is for additional SPP funds and Rp450,000 is personal funds, which are usually disbursed in cash up to a maximum of Rp100,000 per month for her child’s transport costs, who is now in year 10.
Nofitasari said that KJP Plus no longer leaves her confused about meeting her child’s educational needs. Matters such as buying books, uniforms, shoes, and other school equipment can be fulfilled with KJP Plus.
Not only that, KJP Plus holders can redeem affordable groceries every month, thus supporting the family’s nutritional fulfilment. She hopes the programme continues because it is very beneficial.
“That can be used to add nutrition. Because there is rice, eggs, meat, milk, fish,” said Nofitasari, who has felt the benefits of KJP Plus since her child was in year 2 of primary school.
Meanwhile, Deva (17), also admitted that she never lacks for education cost matters with KJP Plus. According to her, all school needs can be met with funds from the programme.
“Yes, it’s helpful. I mean for school needs like buying shoes, books, pens, and so on, never lacking,” said the teenager who is now studying in the Graphic Production major.
