Not Mugged: Model's Head Wound in West Jakarta Turns Out to Be a Burst Boil

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - ADV alias AWS, the model who spread the hoax claiming to have been stabbed after being robbed in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, actually sustained injuries from a ruptured boil on the scalp. Public Relations Head of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, insisted that ADV is not a victim of mugging.

‘This has been studied, including an autopsy-like visum et repertum examination of the wound. We reiterate that the wound was a boil that erupted. So it’s not a stabbing by a mugger,’ he said at a press conference at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Friday (22 May 2026).

The inquiry was conducted because ADV had claimed to be a mugging victim in West Jakarta, which has recently sparked talk about street violence.

‘To determine the motive of the person involved, whether there was any effort by specific groups to fabricate a scenario by uploading content and admitting that the person was a victim,’ Budi said.

In addition, the investigation aims to remind ADV not to spread false news, especially news that could frighten and unsettled the public.

Earlier, Budi stated that ADV’s assertion of being a mugging victim was misinformation (hoax).

After verification, ADV admitted it was a prank and deliberately used the talk circulating about muggings in West Jakarta.

‘The first reason is mischief; the second is to glamourise some viral incidents about muggings. This was addressed earlier today and the investigation has been conducted,’ Budi explained at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, on Wednesday (20 May 2026).

The news of the alleged mugging first emerged through a Threads post from the account @hmzr39.

In that post, the victim initialed ADV was said to have just returned from a photo shoot around 00:00 WIB.

On the way home using an online motorcycle taxi service (ojol), the victim was claimed to be intercepted by a gang of muggers near the Kebon Jeruk Toll road.

The post also stated the victim suffered stab wounds to the head and had to be taken to Sumber Waras Hospital, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta.
