Not Just the Menu: BGN Requires SPPG to Upload MBG Ingredient Prices on Social Media
JAKARTA — The Deputy Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), Sony Sonjaya, said that the Nutrition Service Delivery Units (SPPG), the kitchens supplying the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme, must have social media to communicate with the public. Not only should they upload the MBG daily menu, SPPG must also provide information on the prices of the ingredients. This was stated during Technical Guidance for MBG Food Handlers and the Acceleration of Issuing the Hygiene Sanitation Compliance Certificate (SLHS) in Tangerang on Saturday, 7 March 2026. The event was attended by 400 participants from SPPG representatives, volunteers, partners/foundations actively involved in MBG distribution to certify the SPPG. “So SPPG must inform what today’s menu is, its contents and nutrition, including the prices. For example, today it’s rice, then teriyaki chicken, then steamed carrots and green beans, the fruit bananas; those prices must be included,” Sony said in a statement on Sunday, 8 March 2026. “Suppose the banana — how much is it? For example, Rp 1,500 per banana,” he added. Sony also said that if there is a discrepancy in MBG offerings on the ground, the public can lodge complaints directly on the SPPG’s social media channels. Meanwhile, Suardi Samiran, Deputy for Distribution and Provision at BGN, stressed that food quality is determined not only by the ingredients used but also by the processing, storage, and presentation. He noted that food safety standards must be applied comprehensively at every operational stage of the SPPG kitchen. Suardi emphasised that the government wants to ensure all personnel involved have adequate knowledge, skills, and awareness to carry out their duties in each SPPG. “Moreover, accelerating the issuance of the Hygiene Sanitation Compliance Certificate (SLHS) is an important priority as a commitment and accountability of the SPPG in providing safe, hygienic, nutritious food that meets sanitation standards,” he added.
