The Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route officially entered its initial operational phase on Wednesday, 26 August 2026. Behind the Rp5,000 fare for the general public, a number of community groups can use the Jakarta LRT service free of charge.

The Jakarta Provincial Government is providing free travel for 15 community groups. The provision applies to groups that fall into the category of recipients of free transport services in accordance with Jakarta Provincial Government policy.

For members of the general public who do not fall into these groups, the fare for the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading–Manggarai line has been set at Rp5,000 during the initial operational period until October 2026.

Based on information from the Jakarta Provincial Government, the free Jakarta LRT facility is provided to 15 community groups. Those included in these categories can use the Kelapa Gading–Manggarai LRT service without being charged a travel fare.

The following is a list of the 15 groups that receive the free service:

  • Jakarta Provincial Government civil servants and retired civil servants

  • Jakarta Provincial Government contract workers

  • Students receiving the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP) Plus

  • Employees earning the provincial minimum wage through Bank DKI

  • Residents of public rental housing (Rusunawa)

  • Family Welfare Movement (PKK) mobilisation teams

  • Residents holding Kepulauan Seribu identity cards

  • Recipients of subsidised rice (Raskin) domiciled in the Greater Jakarta area

  • Members of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and National Police

  • Veterans of the Republic of Indonesia

  • Persons with disabilities

  • Elderly people over 60 years of age

  • Managers of places of worship

  • Early childhood education teachers

  • Mosquito larvae monitors (Jumantik)

With this policy, groups included in the 15 recipient categories can use the Jakarta LRT as one of their public transport options without having to pay a travel fare.

Meanwhile, members of the public who are not included in the list of 15 groups can still use the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route.

During the initial operational period, the Jakarta LRT fare has been set at Rp5,000. This fare will apply until October 2026.

After the initial fare period ends, the Jakarta Provincial Government will determine the next fare amount. The government is also open to the possibility of applying special fares for Jakarta LRT users.

This means that the current Rp5,000 fare is the fare for the initial operational period and is not a permanent fare decision for travel on the Jakarta LRT Kelapa Gading–Manggarai route.
