Jakarta — The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Kemenag) has not only provided mosques and prayer rooms under its Traveller-Friendly House of Worship programme, but has also prepared 45 Buddhist temples.

Supriyadi, Director General of Buddhist Guidance at Kemenag, said the 45 Buddhist temples are being readied to serve as “rest stops” for travellers heading home to their hometowns.

“There are 45 Buddhist Houses of Worship distributed across Java, Sumatra, Bali, and West Nusa Tenggara, ready to serve as rest stops,” Supriyadi said in a press statement on Thursday (12 March 2026).

“This is being prepared to support our fellow citizens who will be travelling home, particularly during the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah,” Supriyadi added.

The Directorate General of Buddhist Guidance has coordinated with Community Guides (Pembimas) and Buddhist organisers in the regions to identify and ensure the readiness of traveller-friendly Buddhist temples.

The temples are distributed across the aforementioned regions.

“These Buddhist places of worship are open to all travellers regardless of religious background,” Supriyadi emphasised.

“The presence of houses of worship as rest stops with support from various parties is expected to help travellers maintain their physical and mental condition during long journeys,” he said.
