Not Just Crude Oil Supply, Russia Will Do This in Indonesia
Indonesia has agreed on long-term cooperation in the energy sector with Russia. This includes the supply of crude oil and even the government is communicating to obtain supplies of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG).
Not only that, Russia is reportedly ready to invest in building various infrastructure to support energy resilience in Indonesia.
“Alhamdulillah, yesterday, following the President’s directive, I met with the Minister of Energy and the Special Envoy from President Putin, and the news is quite encouraging that we will receive crude supplies from Russia and that the Russian side is ready to build several important infrastructures to increase our national energy reserves and resilience,” said Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, after a meeting at the Palace, quoted on Friday (17/4/2026).
In addition, according to Bahlil, his side is also continuing intensive communication regarding LPG supplies for Indonesia from Russia. As is known, Indonesia imports around 7 million tonnes of LPG every year.
“In addition, we are also communicating regarding LPG. We know that our LPG is around 7 million tonnes imported every year, and now we are diversifying, and insya Allah we will also get support, but this still requires effort and communication in two or three stages, but for the crude, I think it’s almost final,” he said.
However, Bahlil did not want to disclose the volume of crude oil to be imported from Russia. Because there is an agreement prohibiting discussion of the import volume.
But Bahlil emphasised that Indonesia’s crude oil supplies until December are assured to be safe. “For crude for one year from this month until December, insya Allah it’s already safe. So we don’t need to worry; we just need to increase our refinery production,” he said.
