The West Java Regional Police (Polda Jabar) are still investigating the possibility of sexual violence in the alleged confinement and torture case suffered by YTR (29), with suspect Taufik Hidayat. Police stated that investigators have not yet been able to conclude whether an element of sexual violence exists, as several statements still need to be verified and synchronised. “That is what we are currently exploring. We are investigating it, because some very limited statements from the victim and witnesses are still inconsistent,” said the Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan, on Friday, 26 June 2026. According to him, the victim’s condition, who is still undergoing treatment and recovery, means investigators have not yet obtained complete information regarding the entire series of events she experienced while allegedly being confined by the suspect. Hendra admitted that his party has now formed a joint task force involving the General Criminal Investigation Directorate, the Directorate of PPA PPO, the Cyber Directorate, and the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate to accelerate the uncovering of the case. “The leading sector is indeed the PPA PPO Directorate, but we have created a task force to uncover this case and involved all work units,” he said. Apart from the alleged sexual violence, he said, investigators are also still examining a number of other facts, including locations suspected of being used to confine the victim, the suspect’s motive, and the function of several pieces of evidence found at the crime scene. He stressed that his party does not want to rush to conclusions before all evidence and witness statements are fully collected. “We are still investigating and there is still much we need to synchronise regarding the results of the inquiry and investigation,” he said. Previously reported, the flight of Taufik Hidayat (30), the man suspected of confining and torturing his own girlfriend for three years in Bandung, has finally been halted. After being a fugitive hunted by a joint team from the West Java Police, the suspect was successfully apprehended by police. This arrest marks an important point in the investigation of a case that has recently drawn public attention, as the victim named YTR (29) was found in a concerning condition with a number of severe injuries suspected to be the result of prolonged violence.
