Not Due to Energy Savings, Solo Civil Servants Have Been on WFA for Two Months Due to Reduced TKD Funds
The Mayor of Surakarta, Respati Achmad Ardianto, revealed that his administration has implemented efficiency and energy consumption savings over the past two months by applying a work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy once a month for civil servants in the Surakarta City Government. These energy savings were not triggered by the Middle East conflict that has driven up oil prices, but rather due to cuts in regional transfer funds or TKD.
“We have already been implementing what is called work-from-anywhere, where there is effectiveness in the use of AC power and electricity, which we have made very efficient,” said Respati when asked whether the Surakarta City Government has already applied energy-saving policies as desired by the central government following the surge in global oil prices due to the war in the Middle East, on Monday (30/1/2026).
This was stated by Respati after attending the “Anti-Corruption Dialogue” event held at the Gradhika Bakti Praja Building, Central Java Governor’s Office, Semarang City. Respati explained that the WFA policy once a month for civil servants in the Surakarta City Government has been in place for the past two months.
“This is an initiative from the local government because there has been a cut in regional transfer funds of up to Rp200 billion in Solo. Therefore, we are carrying out efficiency,” said Respati.
He stated that WFA once a month is applied evenly to all civil servants in the Surakarta City Government. “But for those not directly dealing with the public, such as in back office,” he said.
Respati emphasised that the Surakarta City Government is ready to continue the efficiency and energy-saving policy, including implementing the central government’s policy on WFA for civil servants. “Of course, this savings will continue, and we are ready to carry out instructions or orders from the central government without reducing public services,” he said.
