Nanik S Deyang announced her resignation from her position as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) on Wednesday, 22 July 2026. Her decision to step down as head of the BGN was conveyed to and approved by President Prabowo. “I told the president with a thousand apologies that it seems I must resign as head of the BGN for the sake of my health, and because the president is concerned and feels sorry for me, the president approved it,” she wrote on her Facebook account, quoted on Thursday, 23 July 2026. Nanik explained on her Facebook social media account that she resigned from her position for health reasons. She stated she would undergo heart treatment abroad. “With a heavy heart, I finally said goodbye to the President to undergo treatment abroad for my heart. The plan was to depart today, Wednesday (22/7),” she wrote. Nanik also revealed the reason for choosing treatment abroad over Indonesia. According to her, the decision was not because she doubted the capabilities of doctors in the country, but rather to seek a second medical opinion based on a friend’s recommendation. “This is not because I do not trust the great doctors in Indonesia, but for a second opinion and it so happens a friend recommended the place I am heading to,” she wrote. Nanik S Deyang said she is currently prioritising her health recovery. She admitted to being under strict supervision from family members to be more disciplined in maintaining her lifestyle. “I am concentrating on my health first, friends. Because Kakak Kim and Ade Ara will no longer compromise on my health. They asked me to fix my eating pattern and not be stressed. Since I got sick, they have been constantly checking on my activities and what I eat. Have I exercised yet or not? They are truly my health supervisors… ha..ha..,” she wrote. Nanik stated that although her tenure as Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) was relatively short, she claimed to have laid the foundation for improving the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals Programme (MBG).
