Not anti-Habibie but...

From Pikiran Rakyat

As a housewife who is not well versed in politics, I would
like to ask the following questions:

* What is the difference between the New Golkar and the Old
Golkar?

* Is it possible for the postelection government to change if
its leaders are the very same men?

I am not anti-Habibie. I admire him as a wise and clever man,
a technologist, but to all appearances he is regrettably not a
politician.

During 32 years, why did none of the Golkar people close to
Pak Harto dare to try continuously to remind him to stay on the
right and truthful path?

Even ulemas and high-ranking government officials remained
silent and did not try to admonish him.

If during five years, mistakes. big and small, are made and a
leader duly apologizes for them to the people, it can be
forgiven. But errors over 32 years are really excessive.

Thus, how can the people possibly trust the high-ranking
officials of the current government who are, for the greater
part, Golkar people?
