Not an Arab Nation, Indonesia Deemed to Have Potential to Lead Al-Aqsa Liberation Preparations
International academic specialising in Baitul Maqdis studies, Professor Abdul Fattah el-Awaisi, believes that Indonesia possesses a highly strategic geopolitical position to lead science-based preparations in the effort to liberate Al-Aqsa Mosque. According to him, this struggle does not begin with military power, but through the development of knowledge, ways of thinking, and strategic planning.
According to el-Awaisi, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) provided an example that great changes always begin with knowledge. He referred to the first revelation which commanded reading as the foundation for building civilisation.
“The Prophet did not start with the military. He started with reading and building knowledge,” said el-Awaisi during the “Baitul Maqdis The Blueprint” event organised by the International Networking for Humanitarian (INH) at the RRI Auditorium, Jakarta, on Sunday (2/8/2026).
He noted that colonial powers applied this very principle when intending to colonise various regions, including Palestine and Indonesia. Before sending troops, he said, they first conducted research, gathered knowledge, and formulated long-term strategies. “Unfortunately, colonisers followed the natural laws of change by preparing knowledge first, while the Muslim Ummah often neglects this,” he added.
Consequently, he urged the Muslim community to engage in what he termed the ‘liberation of mind’. In his view, support for Palestine must not stop at emotional solidarity, but must be built upon a strong understanding of history, geopolitics, and scientific study.
