Not a Threat, ALVA Says New Brands Help Educate Electric Motorcycle Market
BINTARO, KOMPAS.com - The electric motorcycle market in Indonesia is becoming increasingly bustling with the entry of various new brands. Far from feeling threatened, ALVA regards this trend as a positive factor for the development of the industry in the country.
Purbaya Pantja, Chief Executive Officer of ALVA, explained that the presence of many new brands is not merely an arena for inter-brand battles, but a collective momentum to expand education to the public.
“It should not be a fight. We all work together and compete. Why is that? Because we want to educate the market well about what electric motorcycles are like and so on. Actually, the more the merrier,” said Purbaya on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
“Perhaps we here, in Jabodetabek, are already very familiar with electric motorcycles and cars. But in other regions, not necessarily. It is very important that the education continues if we want to ensure that this country can indeed be fully electrified,” he said.
For ALVA, the main focus at present is to meet consumer needs by providing reliable daily transportation. ALVA wants to change the public’s paradigm that has so far considered electric motorcycles only for short-distance use.
According to him, the electric motorcycle industry in the future can already replace the role of conventional motorcycles as the main vehicle.
ALVA’s readiness to become the main motorcycle is strongly supported by the development of a charging ecosystem.
Purbaya stressed that the availability of adequate charging infrastructure, such as boost charging, is an absolute requirement for user comfort.
“That’s why what is called an ecosystem is very, very important for us. We want to provide a solution where, wherever they go, whether from home to office or during weekend holidays, the boost charging unit is capable. Well, this is what we are striving for,” he stated.
