JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, stated that the government has not yet established restrictions on the purchase of fuel oil (BBM) amid the Middle East conflict disrupting global energy supplies.

He stated that the government is currently only encouraging the public to use energy wisely, that is, in accordance with their needs.

“I want to convey that please use energy wisely. Please (BBM at) petrol stations is not for industry, please use it prudently,” he said during a working visit in Karanganyar, Central Java, on Thursday (26/3/2026).

He also reminded that no parties should take advantage of the situation by buying BBM in large quantities to resell it.

“If one day, for example, 30 litres, 40 litres is enough. No need for panic buying. There is no need for that. So use it as needed,” he said.

“Do not let there still be queues at petrol stations, trucks queuing. Even though the contents are not for transport, but after that they queue, after that they sell it again,” he added.

In the current situation, once again, Bahlil asked all parties to act wisely in facing the global crisis.

Bahlil also reminded unscrupulous individuals engaging in hoarding to stop such practices and prioritise public interests.

According to him, the government cannot work alone in maintaining energy supply stability, so awareness and cooperation from all elements of society are needed.

Regarding the national energy supply situation, he assured that Indonesia is not yet in an emergency condition.

He guaranteed that the national energy supply is still sufficient to meet public needs amid global turmoil.

Such as diesel fuel (BBM), which no longer relies on imports.
