The Hijrah of Prophet Muhammad SAW from Makkah to Madinah was not a decision made without careful consideration. Behind this historic event, there were several factors that made Madinah the most ideal place to develop the propagation of Islam.

One of the main reasons was the readiness of the people of Madinah to accept the teachings of Islam. In fact, they had already sought out and pledged their allegiance to the Messenger of Allah before he migrated to the city.

The Hijrah to Madinah was not merely a physical relocation, but a strategic step in building Islamic civilisation. The city was chosen because its inhabitants were more prepared to receive the message, having taken the initiative to seek out the Prophet Muhammad SAW to profess their faith.

If the question arises as to why Madinah was chosen as the destination for the Prophet’s Hijrah, the answer lies primarily in the readiness of Madinah’s residents to accept the Islamic call.

There is an interesting aspect to the story of how the people of Madinah embraced Islam. It was they who sought out Prophet Muhammad SAW because they wished to believe in him and Allah SWT. The people of Madinah were unlike the inhabitants of Makkah, whom the Prophet had to approach when introducing Islam.

KH Ahmad Sarwat wrote in his book ‘Madinah Era Kenabian’, published by Rumah Fiqih Publishing, that the people of Madinah, during the Hajj season and many other occasions, actively tried to meet Prophet Muhammad SAW to enter Islam.
