Nosstress and Made Mawut Release 'Selaras', Singing with Children

Band Nosstress and solo singer from Denpasar, Made Mawut, have released a collaborative song titled ‘Selaras’ featuring children. The song was released to coincide with the commemoration of National Children’s Day on 23 July 2026.

Nosstress member Man Angga stated that the song ‘Selaras’ was born as a response to current conditions, where the relationship between parents and children is perceived to be increasingly out of sync.

‘Out of sync means many can no longer support each other, can no longer walk together, whether due to environmental conditions or human decisions themselves,’ said Man Angga in a written statement on Thursday (23/7/2026).

According to him, this condition has a major impact on children. They are losing space to learn and play freely and comfortably. On the other hand, parents also do not have enough time with their children because they spend more time working.

‘Of course, the first to be affected are the parents whose lives are consumed. Then they do not have enough time to live together with their children. That creates an even greater disharmony in the world,’ he explained.

Man Angga added that Indonesia’s current situation is also seen as not prioritising health and education budgets. This, he said, also affects the mindset and mental state of parents worrying about their children’s future.

‘So we are almost hopeless. So perhaps this work is one way for us to stay sane in facing the current conditions,’ Man Angga revealed.

Man Angga explained that the process of involving children in the making of this song was quite lengthy. According to him, children cannot simply be asked to sing spontaneously, so a more natural approach was needed, such as playing the song for them repeatedly.

‘We held several meetings with the children, like small picnics and then simulations where they would sing together to build the atmosphere,’ he said.

Meanwhile, Made Mawut said the song ‘Selaras’ contains a message to continue instilling the values of cooperation and equality between parents and children.

‘Making the song Selaras a small parenting manifesto. The state should facilitate children’s growth and development harmoniously, without forced competition and in line with their basic rights,’ said Mawut.
