Norway's Oil Exports Break Record Amid Middle East Conflict

OSLO – A surge in global oil prices amid geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East has propelled Norway’s crude oil exports to an all-time high in March 2026. This increase stems from rising prices and export volumes, particularly due to global supply disruptions. Citing Yahoo Finance on Thursday (16/4/2026), data from Statistics Norway indicates that the value of Norway’s crude oil exports reached 57.4 billion kroner in March 2026, equivalent to around Rp104.17 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of Rp1,814.77 per Norwegian krone). This surge marks the highest export value in the history of the country’s crude oil commodity. According to Trading Economics, monthly crude oil exports also rose significantly from February 2026’s level of around 34.4 billion kroner, equivalent to approximately Rp62.43 trillion. This sharp increase is inseparable from global geopolitical dynamics, particularly conflicts involving Iran that impact the world’s energy distribution routes. “The closure of the Strait of Hormuz has caused significant supply shocks in the oil market, contributing to high oil prices in March and thus the highest export value in history,” it stated, as quoted from The Guardian. The Strait of Hormuz is a vital route for global oil distribution. Disruptions in this region directly affect the world’s energy supply and prices, including crude oil.
