MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: Norway will allocate US$4 million
in financial aid this fiscal year to help the Indonesian
government develop schools for the disabled.
Norwegian Ambassador to Indonesia Sjur Helge Torgersen said on
Sunday that the assistance deal was reached between the two
governments on the sidelines of the recently concluded World
Summit for sustainable development in Johannesburg.
Torgersen was on a visit to a school for the disabled in Dasan
Griya village, eight kilometers from the West Nusa Tenggara
capital of Mataram. He also attended a national workshop on
education for the disabled, which was attended by representatives
of the country's provinces.
A UNESCO report says that 45 million disabled children need
education. -- Antara
