A 37-member trade and investment mission from the Australian state of Northern Territory will take part in the 4th mining and petroleum exhibition to be held in Balikpapan on June 19-21.

The mission included representatives from 22 leading companies in the Northern Territory, the head of the information unit at the Indonesian consulate in Darwin, Arvinanto Soeriaatmadja, said on Monday.

He said the Indonesian consul based in Darwin, Harbangan Napitulu, had met with the executive director of Asian Relations and Trade Division in the Northern Territory, Brian O'Gallagher, to discuss preparations for the mission.

The mission consisted of representatives from 22 companies, the Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Asian Relations, Arvinanto said.

The companies are among others engaged in the fields of mining technique, environmental consulting services, aviation services, industrial accreditation and expertise services, and sea
transportation.

Some of the companies are producers of heavy-duty mining instruments, mining equipment components and pneumatic torque water.

"Brian O'Gallagher who will lead the Northern Territory trade and investment mission to the Balikpapan Expo 2008 said the mission will be the biggest ever overseas trade and investment
mission from the Australian state," Arvinanto said.

He said the mission reflected the Northern Territory mining companies' great interest in establishing cooperation with their Indonesian partners in the mining sector.

The annual expo was for the first time held in 2005.(**)
