Semarang (ANTARA) - The journeys of several trains on the northern Java route in Central Java were disrupted by flooding that submerged two bridges between Gubug, Tegowanu and Brumbung stations in the Grobogan Regency area of Central Java on Monday.

PT KAI Daop 4 Semarang Public Relations Manager Luqman Arif said the operating patterns of several trains were forced to be rerouted via the Brumbung - Gundih - Gambringan line.

He explained that the route had been temporarily closed since 04.35 Western Indonesian Time as floodwaters had already covered the tracks. β€œTo ensure travel safety, the route has been temporarily closed,” Luqman said in a press statement.

The two flood-affected bridges, he continued, were Bridge 46 on the track section between Tegowanu Station and Brumbung Station, and Bridge 59 on the section between Gubug Station and Tegowanu Station.

Three trains had their journeys rerouted, including the Gumarang service on the Jakarta - Surabaya route, the Jayabaya service on the Jakarta - Malang route, and the Harina service on the Bandung - Surabaya route.

He said officers were continuing to monitor developments regarding the condition of the flooded rail tracks so that the latest information could be communicated promptly.

He added that PT KAI wished to convey its apologies for the inconvenience experienced by passengers as a result of the travel disruption.

Heavy rain that lashed the Grobogan Regency area from Sunday (15/2) evening through to the early hours of Monday caused flooding across various parts of the regency.
