North Sumatra to host Sumatra-wide BI Investment Day

Medan (ANTARA) - The North Sumatra Provincial Government will host the BI Investment Day for all of Sumatra in Medan on Thursday (23/7) to strengthen inter-regional investment collaboration.

North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution said in Medan on Tuesday that the forum will bring together governors from across Sumatra, investors, and various stakeholders to discuss strengthening regional investment.

According to Bobby, Sumatra has enormous economic potential that must be managed in an integrated manner so that it can become one of the driving engines of the national economy.

He said the BI Investment Day is expected to encourage a more even flow of investment across the whole of Sumatra, so that the economic benefits are not felt by only one region.

Beyond discussing regional investment promotion, the forum will also strengthen synergy between the North Sumatra Provincial Government and Bank Indonesia, including in promoting ease of doing business, strengthening micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and accelerating the electronification of local government transactions.

According to Statistics Indonesia (BPS), Sumatra’s economy grew by 4.81 per cent in 2025, contributing around 22.22 per cent to national gross domestic product (GDP).

Bank Indonesia’s North Sumatra Province Head of Representative Office, Ameriza M. Moesa, said the BI Investment Day will serve as a platform to bring together regional governments, investors, and stakeholders to expand investment opportunities in Sumatra.

According to Ameriza, at least five governors from Sumatra’s ten provinces are scheduled to attend the forum in order to strengthen investment collaboration and foster more inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the region.
