North Sumatra Red Cross Accelerates Post-Disaster Educational Aid Distribution
Medan (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of North Sumatra Province has distributed educational aid and household necessities to students and teachers affected by the recent disaster in Tapanuli Tengah Regency.
“This educational aid and household necessities have been distributed to several schools in Tapanuli Tengah,” said the PMI North Sumatra field coordinator, Ade Yudiansyah, in Tapanuli Tengah, on Tuesday.
He added that the aid was delivered by a team of PMI North Sumatra volunteers to SMP Negeri 4 Sibabangun, SMP Negeri 3 Satu Atap Pinang Sori, and SD Negeri 155688 Muara Sibuntuon.
The aid packages included school uniforms, school kits containing bags, notebooks, stationery, and other learning materials.
In addition, PMI North Sumatra distributed household necessities to help alleviate the burden on the families of students and teachers affected by the disaster.
“Children are the next generation and must continue to have access to education, even in difficult situations,” said Ade.
According to him, many students lost their school supplies as a result of the hydrometeorological disaster in late November 2025, which flooded homes and educational facilities.
“We want to ensure that they return to school with renewed enthusiasm and adequate supplies,” he said.
The head of SMP Negeri 3 Satu Atap Pinang Sori, Hans Hutauruk, expressed his appreciation for the concern shown by the PMI North Sumatra volunteers towards the affected students and teachers.
He said that this aid is a meaningful form of support to restore the students’ enthusiasm for learning in Tapanuli Tengah.
“This aid is not just about uniforms and stationery, but also about care and concern. The children are being looked after, and they are not alone in facing this situation,” he said.
