North Sumatra Pusdalops: 1,500 Residents Affected by Medan Floods
Medan (ANTARA) - The North Sumatra Operations Control Centre for Disaster Management (Pusdalops) has recorded that 1,500 residents have been affected by flooding in Medan.
The Head of Emergency Response, Equipment and Logistics at the North Sumatra Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Sri Wahyuni Pancasilawati, stated that the flooding occurred in the early hours of Friday.
“Based on reports, the flooding began at 03.10 WIB due to high-intensity rainfall,” Sri said in Medan on Friday.
Pusdalops Sumut noted that the flooding in the provincial capital affected the sub-districts of Medan Johor, Medan Selayang, and Medan Maimun.
According to the report, there have been no displaced persons, injuries, or fatalities.
Yuyun, as she is familiarly known, said that various response measures have been undertaken by the local government and relevant stakeholders.
“The Medan city government is monitoring water levels in rivers and flood-prone areas, preparing evacuation equipment, intensifying public advisories, and providing logistical assistance,” she said.
