Medan (ANTARA) - The North Sumatra Provincial Government (Pemprov Sumut) is offering investment opportunities to Japanese companies, such as the Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone (KEK) and the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) mass transportation system. Acting Regional Secretary of North Sumatra Province Sulaiman Harahap stated that the Sei Mangkei SEZ is an integrated industrial zone expected to drive regional economic growth. “Ladies and gentlemen can see what suitable investments are available, while also obtaining accurate information about the various investment options in that area,” Sulaiman told reporters after receiving a visit from the leadership of PT Hankyu Hanshin at the North Sumatra Governor’s Office in Medan on Friday. According to him, North Sumatra Province has numerous investment potentials, including tourism, agriculture, plantations, education, health, and mineral resources, both existing and renewable. “We warmly welcome the arrival of PT Hankyu Hanshin in North Sumatra. It is hoped that PT Hankyu Hanshin can develop its existing investments in North Sumatra, not just in the property and residential sectors,” Sulaiman said. Head of the Provincial Investment and One-Stop Integrated Services Agency Nurbaiti Harahap added that investments in North Sumatra Province are currently dominated by investors from Malaysia and Singapore. Her side hopes that PT Hankyu Hanshin can expand its investments into the industrial sector, particularly in the Sei Mangkei SEZ in Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra.
