The North Sumatra Provincial Government, through its Regional Revenue Agency (Bapenda), has drawn 936 prizes for the Gebyar Pajak Sumut (North Sumatra Tax Celebration) 2026 programme for the first quarter.

“A total of 936 prizes have been prepared for North Sumatra residents who pay their taxes on time,” said Head of the Provincial Revenue Agency Sutan Tolang Lubis in Medan on Friday. The prizes include motor vehicles, laptops, refrigerators, bicycles, and various other items.

This programme represents a new approach to local tax management, prioritising rewards for compliant taxpayers rather than relying solely on tax amnesty programmes. “This Gebyar Pajak Sumut 2026 is the first innovation of its kind implemented in North Sumatra,” he stated.

To ensure transparency and fairness, Sutan emphasised that all civil servants within the North Sumatra Provincial Government, particularly Bapenda employees, are prohibited from winning the draw. “We need to convey that this draw does not apply to civil servants and Bapenda staff. This demonstrates to the public that the process is truly clean and purely intended for tax-compliant residents of North Sumatra,” he stressed.

Verification and validation of the winners’ vehicle data will be conducted after the draw, estimated to take one month before the prizes are handed over. The Gebyar Pajak Sumut 2026 series will be held quarterly: the first quarter in June 2026, the second in July 2026, the third in October 2026, and the fourth quarter along with the grand prize in December 2026. Residents can view the complete list of winning vehicle registration numbers for the first quarter on the official website gebyarpajak.sumutprov.go.id.

“For the grand prize draw in December 2026, we have prepared a main prize of an umrah package and one car,” Sutan explained.

Muhammad Suib, Assistant for General Administration at the North Sumatra Regional Secretariat, stated that the essence of Gebyar Pajak Sumut 2026 is to educate the public to build a culture of paying taxes on time. “We want to reduce dependence on tax amnesty programmes, which can actually lead to a decline in taxpayer compliance. This is to educate citizens to pay taxes according to the quarterly schedule,” Suib said.

Nasjwin Andi Nurdin, Head of the North Sumatra Regional Office of Jasa Raharja, noted that the programme is a form of appreciation for taxpayers who have been orderly in fulfilling their obligations. “Whereas previously we conducted persuasive measures through tax amnesties, today we are providing a balanced appreciation for compliant and orderly taxpayers. This is an excellent opportunity for all North Sumatra residents,” Nasjwin remarked.
