The North Sumatra Regional Police have uncovered an alleged criminal case involving the broadcast of pornographic content via a live streaming feature on social media. The revelation began with a public report regarding a social media account that was vulgarly broadcasting indecent content. Acting on the report, police arrested a man with the initials NFR (28) in Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency, on 26 May 2026. Under the account name ‘Koko BR’, the suspect acted as a host, issuing challenges to adult women to perform pornographic acts in order to attract viewers. The illegal practice reportedly generated substantial financial gain, with the suspect earning approximately Rp5 million per day. Each live streaming session attracted between 18,000 and 29,000 viewers. Officers seized evidence including mobile phones and supporting equipment used for the broadcasts. The police are coordinating with the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs. The police emphasised that this firm action is an effort to protect the younger generation from the harmful effects of pornographic content in the digital realm. NFR has been charged under Article 407 (1) of the new Criminal Code, carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years’ imprisonment.
