North Sumatra Naqshbandiyah Celebrates Eid al-Adha on 27 May 2026
The Naqshbandiyah Al-Kholidiyah Jalaliyah Sufi order in North Sumatra has fixed Eid al-Adha 1447 AH to fall on 27 May 2026, based on the Qomariah astronomical calendar calculations by the Thariqat Naqsyabandiyah Fatwa Council. ‘Eid al-Adha on 10 Zul Hijjah falls on 27 May 2026 in accordance with the Qomariyah calculations of the Naqshbandiyah Al Khalidiyah Jalaliyah Thariqat,’ said Munawar Kholil, Chairman of the Central Naqshabandiyah Murshidin Council, to CNN Indonesia.com on Thursday (21/5). According to Munawar, Eid prayers in North Sumatra will be centred at Rumah Suluk Bandar Tinggi, Kecamatan Bandar Masilam, Kabupaten Simalungun, and at the Rumah Suluk in Desa Marindal I, Kecamatan Patumbak, Kabupaten Deliserdang. ‘After the Eid prayers, the animal sacrifice will take place at several Rumah Suluk locations across Indonesia. At present I cannot confirm the numbers. The meat will then be distributed to the community,’ he added. Munawar hopes that the entire Eid al-Adha rites this year can proceed smoothly, particularly at the sites where the Naqshabandiyya jamaah perform prayers and the slaughter. He also hopes the Eid moment can strengthen solidarity and social care in society. ‘May Eid al-Adha go smoothly. I hope this Eid becomes a moment to strengthen solidarity and social concern through the distribution of meat within each jamaah’s community,’ he said.
