North Sumatra Man Pushes Stall Keeper to Death After Taking Offence at Remarks
A man in North Sumatra allegedly pushed a stall keeper to his death after taking offence at a remark made during a cigarette purchase. The perpetrator initially visited the victim’s stall in Jalan Sidamanik, Siantar Marimbun to buy cigarettes, but claimed the victim said something inappropriate. Feeling aggrieved, the suspect pushed the victim, causing him to fall and hit his head on the floor. The victim’s family, who received the news on Wednesday (3 June), went to the stall and found him dead on the premises. Following the incident, the perpetrator returned home but became restless an hour later. When he checked on the victim and discovered he had died, he panicked, stole the victim’s money, jewellery, motorcycle, and mobile phone, and fled to a hotel in Pematangsiantar city. Police immediately pursued the suspect after receiving the information. Officers arrested the perpetrator and seized the stolen belongings, including one gold ring, two gold earrings, one gold necklace, a mobile phone, a motorcycle, and cash amounting to IDR 2,286,000.
