North Sumatra Immigration Regional Office Innovations Attract Attention from Bangka Belitung and Bengkulu
A series of innovations from the North Sumatra Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration has once again attracted the attention of other regional offices. On Thursday (10/9), two regional offices arrived for a benchmarking study at North Sumatra Immigration. The delegation from the Bangka Belitung Islands Immigration Regional Office was led directly by Regional Head Junita Sitorus.
The delegation from the Bengkulu Immigration Regional Office was led by the Head of Intelligence and Internal Compliance, Panogu H.D. Sitanglag.
Both groups were received by the Head of the North Sumatra Immigration Regional Office, Dr Parlindungan, S.H., M.H. This meeting served as a platform to share experiences regarding services, supervision, and immigration public relations management.
Junita Sitorus expressed appreciation for several best practices implemented by North Sumatra Immigration. These include the Immigration Lounge, Immigration-Led Villages (Desa Binaan Imigrasi/DBI), Immigration Officers for Village Development (Pimpasa), and social media management, which were deemed worthy of being used as references for other regions.
According to her, these programmes demonstrate a tangible effort to expand service access while bringing immigration services closer to the community.
Parlindungan welcomed the visit, noting that the exchange of experience between regional offices is vital for improving the quality of immigration duties.
“We are open to sharing the experiences and best practices that have been implemented in North Sumatra. It is our hope that what is learned during this visit can be developed according to the needs of each respective region and provide a positive impact on the community,” he stated on Friday (18/9), as quoted from Antara.
Parlindungan emphasised that all innovations within the North Sumatra Immigration ranks stem from community needs and are followed up by a solid working unit. “The regional office must serve as a unifier of vision, determining the right and clear direction, so that ‘PRIMA’ performance, which is oriented towards the community, can be achieved,” he said.
Moving forward, the North Sumatra Immigration Regional Office is committed to continuously strengthening the implementation of the 15 Action Programmes of the Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Agus Andrianto. The regional office will also promote the “Immigration for the People” spirit championed by the Director General of Immigration, Hendarsam Marantoko.
For Parlindungan and the North Sumatra Immigration staff, collaboration and a culture of mutual learning between working units are key to building immigration services that are adaptive, innovative, and responsive to the needs of the public.
