North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution has returned to office in the Nias Islands as a continued demonstration of the provincial government’s commitment to accelerating development in the island region. “This is the second time the Governor has worked directly from the Nias Islands, following his visit last July,” said Erwin Hotmansah Harahap, Head of the North Sumatra Communication and Informatics Office, in Gunungsitoli on Wednesday. During this second working visit to Nias, Governor Bobby Nasution is scheduled to carry out various strategic agendas that directly address the needs of the Nias community. These include reviewing health services, absorbing the aspirations of the Nias people, and ensuring the continuation of various development programmes in this island region. “The Governor’s repeated presence here affirms our commitment that accelerating development in Nias is not a temporary agenda, but a sustainable programme whose progress we monitor year after year,” Erwin stated. According to him, the Governor’s presence among the Nias community proves that development in the island region receives consistent attention from the North Sumatra Provincial Government. All strategic programmes designed by the provincial government are ensured to continue in a sustainable manner. “The purpose of working from Nias is to ensure that all the strategic programmes previously initiated truly continue and that their benefits are optimally felt by the wider community,” Erwin said. During this second working visit to Nias, Governor Bobby Nasution also brought along several heads of regional apparatus organisations from the North Sumatra Provincial Government. “This step is taken so that programmes can be realised immediately while also making it easier for the community to convey their aspirations according to the duties and functions of each organisation. Several members of the North Sumatra Regional House of Representatives are also accompanying the Governor,” Erwin added. Yohanes, a resident of Gunungsitoli, expressed his delight at Governor Bobby Nasution’s return to work in the Nias Islands. According to him, this move is tangible proof of the North Sumatra Provincial Government’s strong commitment to overseeing the continuity of development in the island region. “I am very happy with the Governor’s arrival. I hope the programmes brought by the Governor can advance the Nias Islands,” said Yohanes.
