North Sumatra Governor Hands Over Acting Regent Decree for Langkat to Deputy Regent Tiorita

Medan (ANTARA) - North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution has handed over the decree appointing Langkat Deputy Regent Tiorita Surbakti as the acting Regent of Langkat to ensure the wheels of government continue to turn. “We were asked to act swiftly so that the running of the government remains normal. We have handed over the Decree for the Deputy Regent to become the Acting Regent,” said Bobby after the handover of the acting Regent decree at the North Sumatra Governor’s Office on Monday. The Governor stated that Tiorita’s appointment as acting Regent of Langkat was a follow-up to intensive coordination between the North Sumatra Provincial Government and the Indonesian Ministry of Home Affairs. According to Bobby, once the coordination process with the Ministry of Home Affairs was completed, the North Sumatra Provincial Government was asked to immediately appoint an acting official so that the administration of Langkat Regency would not be disrupted. He also reminded Tiorita to maintain the integrity of the state civil apparatus within the Langkat Regency Government. Bobby stressed that civil servants must carry out their function as public servants professionally and should not be faced with a choice between serving the public or serving their superiors. “Do not make civil servants have two choices, serving the public or serving the leadership. That must not happen,” he said. He committed to directing all regional apparatus organisations within the Langkat Regency Government to maintain integrity and improve services to the community. “In accordance with the Governor’s direction, I will strive to restore and increase public trust in us,” said Tiorita. Previously, the KPK arrested seven people in a sting operation in the Langkat, Binjai, and Medan areas of North Sumatra, including Langkat Regent Syah Afandin, also known as Ondim. KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the seven individuals detained consisted of Syah Afandin, a civil servant from the Langkat Regency Government, and five private sector parties.
