North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Distribute Basic Foodstuffs in Medan City: Prabowo's Directive

North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution, alongside Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, distributed thousands of basic necessity packages to residents in Medan and surrounding areas on the evening of Friday, 20 March 2026, during the takbiran night, as directed by President Prabowo Subianto.

President Prabowo was in Medan for the Eid al-Fitr takbiran night in 2026. Teddy, together with North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution, inspected the event, which unfolded in a friendly atmosphere amid enthusiasm from residents and online drivers who had gathered.

“Earlier in North Sumatra, after breaking the fast and during the takbiran night, we were asked to distribute basic necessities and aid to the people of North Sumatra, especially those in Medan and nearby areas,” said Bobby in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday evening.

Bobby explained that the distribution of the aid packages occurred at the North Sumatra Governor’s Office, with approximately 2,000 to 5,000 packages. The aid was intended for the general public, including online motorcycle taxi drivers who were still working on takbiran night.

“Indeed, the community—online drivers usually have large groups. When one comes, they invite their friends, so many online driver friends gathered there,” he stated.

Furthermore, Bobby said the package distribution began in the afternoon and continued until takbiran night.

“We’ve been distributing since the afternoon. After breaking the fast, we took a break. Then, after iftar, the President instructed us, along with the Cabinet Secretary, to distribute again at the Governor’s Office,” Bobby concluded.

It is known that President Prabowo Subianto arrived in Medan, North Sumatra, on Friday afternoon to observe takbiran night with the people of North Sumatra and perform Eid al-Fitr prayers in Aceh Tamiang Regency, Aceh, on Saturday (21/3).

President Prabowo arrived at 16:55 WIB, accompanied by State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Sudaryono, Foreign Minister Sugiono, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Head of the Government Public Communication Agency Angga Raka Prabowo.

Meanwhile, several officials who welcomed President Prabowo’s arrival included Defence Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution, Bukit Barisan Regional Command Commander Major General TNI Hendy Antariksa, and North Sumatra Police Chief Inspector General Pol. Whisnu Hermawan.
