North Sumatra Governor Bobby Nasution will begin working from the Nias Islands this week, fulfilling a promise made during the 2024 North Sumatra gubernatorial election. Bobby stated he would start his tenure in the region on Wednesday. “Yes, God willing, this Wednesday. The promise was for three months, but we will take turns with the Deputy Governor,” Bobby told reporters on Monday (13/7/2026). Bobby explained that he and Deputy Governor Surya would rotate their presence in the Nias Islands. He noted that he would work there for the first week before being relieved by Surya. “This time I will go first for a week, then the Deputy Governor will come for a week, and we will take turns,” he said. The North Sumatra Provincial Government will implement several programmes in the Nias Islands, with at least three main initiatives planned for the area. “There are fixed programmes for the Nias Islands, three main programmes that we will distribute there,” he added.
