North Sumatra Government Ensures Infrastructure Development in Nias Islands on Track

The North Sumatra Provincial Government has assured that priority infrastructure development and public service programmes in the Nias Islands are proceeding according to plan. “In principle, we want this infrastructure development to be on time,” said North Sumatra Deputy Governor Surya after inspecting retaining wall construction on the Miga–Lolowua provincial road in Gunungsitoli, North Sumatra, on Monday. The Deputy Governor stated that the inspection of the retaining wall on the Miga–Lolowua provincial road was conducted because it is a strategic route connecting Gunungsitoli City and West Nias Regency. The inspection is also part of the provincial government’s efforts to ensure the infrastructure development progress remains on target. “This is in line with Governor Bobby Nasution’s message during the agenda of working from the Nias Islands to ensure development runs optimally,” Surya said. In addition to reviewing the progress of the retaining wall construction on the Miga–Lolowua provincial road, the Deputy Governor is also scheduled to check a number of other developments while working from the Nias Islands. “I arrived in the Nias Islands today and immediately inspected the retaining wall construction on the Miga–Lolowua provincial road,” Surya remarked. Grace Zebua, a resident of Gunungsitoli, said the majority of the Nias community feels the benefits of the development carried out by the North Sumatra Provincial Government, particularly the road infrastructure improvements. “Hopefully all the damaged roads here can be repaired, so the community can be comfortable,” Grace said. Johan, a motorist who frequently travels the Miga–Lolowua provincial road, said the road condition is now much better than before. He also hopes the retaining wall construction will be completed soon, so the people of Nias can traverse this provincial road more safely.
