North Sumatra Disaster Management Agency Sends Seven Tents to Residents Affected by Sinabung Eruption

Medan (ANTARA) - The North Sumatra Provincial Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has sent seven refugee tents for residents affected by the eruption of Mount Sinabung.

“We are bringing seven tents there,” said the Head of Emergency Response, Equipment, and Logistics at BPBD North Sumatra, Sri Wahyuni Pancasilawati, in Medan on Tuesday.

Although she did not provide specific details, she stated that the refugee tents would be allocated according to the needs of the affected community.

“Whether all of them will be used depends on the Karo BPBD,” she added.

In addition to sending the seven refugee tents, Sri Wahyuni noted that the provincial agency had previously undertaken various efforts, including distributing masks to the public.

She stated that the entire handling process is currently underway, and further updates regarding the development of the situation will be provided.

Meanwhile, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) of Karo Regency, North Sumatra, has mobilised personnel and established four command posts as an anticipatory measure against the potential eruption of Mount Sinabung, which is currently showing increased volcanic activity.

Commander of the 0205/Karo Military District, Lieutenant Colonel Inf Robert Panjaitan, acting as the Head of the Disaster Emergency Task Force, stated that the four alert posts will serve as coordination centres for managing the emergency situation.

The four posts include the Integrated Alert Post at the Simpang Empat District Koramil Office, Post 1 in Kuta Gugung Village, Post 2 in Simpang Tiga Kicat, and Post 3 in Payung Village.

“These posts are prepared to support the monitoring of situational developments, personnel coordination, public services, and the execution of evacuations should conditions necessitate displacement,” he said.
