North Sumatra Attorney General's Office raids housing unit over alleged apartment construction corruption
Medan (ANTARA) - The Special Crimes Investigation Team of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office (Pidsus Kejati) raided the office of the Housing and Settlement Areas Work Unit (Satker PKP) Sumatera II in connection with allegations of corruption in the construction of apartment buildings (rusun) for the 2023-2024 fiscal year, valued at approximately Rp64 billion.
“Today’s raid was carried out by the Pidsus investigation team regarding allegations of corruption in the apartment building construction project for the 2023-2024 fiscal year,” said Rizaldi, Head of Legal Information at the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office, in Medan on Monday.
Rizaldi stated that the raid on the Satker PKP office was conducted to search for and complete evidence in the investigation process of the case.
“The raid was carried out to search for and complete evidence in the investigation process regarding allegations of corruption in the apartment building construction project, located in North Tapanuli Regency, Central Tapanuli Regency, and Deli Serdang Regency,” he said.
He added that the raid was carried out based on an order from the Head of the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office, Harli Siregar, after obtaining permission and a search warrant from the Corruption Court at the Medan District Court.
According to him, the activity is part of the investigators’ efforts to uncover the alleged criminal act of corruption in the said project.
From the location, the investigators secured several documents related to payments for the apartment building construction work, as well as electronic data in the form of copies (softcopy) from computer and laptop devices.
He added that the raid began around 1:30 PM local time and continued until the afternoon. The Pidsus investigation team from the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office continues to gather evidence to clarify the construction of the alleged corruption case.
“The Pidsus investigation team from the North Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office will continue to work to complete the evidence, so that this case can be revealed transparently to the public, including identifying the parties who must be held responsible,” said Rizaldi.
