Manado, VIVA – The name Vicky Katiandagho has suddenly come under public scrutiny following the viral news on social media about his resignation from the Indonesian National Police (Polri). The figure, known for his vocal handling of corruption cases, is said to have stepped down after being transferred from his position.

Amid the buzz surrounding the issue, the North Sulawesi Regional Police (Polda Sulut) has finally provided an explanation. The Head of Public Relations Division of Polda Sulut, Police Commissioner General Alamsyah P. Hasibuan, revealed that Vicky is indeed known as a member who handled several corruption cases while serving in the Corruption Eradication Unit of the Minahasa Resort Police Criminal Investigation Division.

“Several cases have reached the prosecution stage (P21), and others are still in process,” he stated, quoted on Saturday, 4 April 2026.

However, regarding the rumour of the transfer being the trigger for his resignation, Alamsyah emphasised that it was part of routine policy within the Polri. In 2024, Vicky was included in the transfer list along with dozens of other personnel.

“Vicky was included in the 2024 tour of duty and tour of area transfer decree, based on Decree No. 534/X/2024 on routine 20% non-commissioned officer transfers. The individual was transferred from Minahasa Resort Police to Talaud Resort Police,” he said.

Another important fact is that Vicky’s resignation was actually submitted as early as 2025, well before the transfer issue became widely discussed by the public. The process was then approved in early 2026 through early retirement mechanisms.

“In 2025, the individual submitted a resignation application as a Polri member. In 2026, in January, the verification result of the early retirement application was approved based on Early Retirement Decree No. 52/I/2026,” he said.

Polda Sulut also clarified public perceptions regarding Vicky’s role in uncovering corruption cases. It was emphasised that every case handling is conducted collectively by the team, not by individuals.

“Case handling is not handled by him alone, but by the team or unit,” he said.

With this explanation, the police have assured that the transfer and resignation of Vicky Katiandagho are not directly related as widely speculated. All processes are said to have proceeded in accordance with the applicable rules in the Polri institution.

For context, the figure of Vicky Katiandagho suddenly became a hot topic on social media. This police member came under the spotlight after deciding to resign from the institution where he served.
