North Sulawesi Governor Approves Increase in Local Hajj Subsidy to Rp 5 Million
The Head of the North Sulawesi Regional Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, Wahyudin Ukoli, stated that North Sulawesi Governor Yulius Selvanus has approved raising the local Hajj cost subsidy to Rp 5 million for each prospective pilgrim in the region. “Previously, the local cost subsidy for Hajj pilgrims from North Sulawesi was Rp 3.8 million and is now Rp 5 million per person,” said the Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah for North Sulawesi, Wahyudin, on Friday (17/4/2026). “I express my highest gratitude and appreciation to the Governor for his attention and real commitment to the Hajj pilgrims in North Sulawesi,” he said. He assessed that this step is very helpful and represents the local government’s support for the Muslim community. “We convey our highest appreciation to the Governor for this support and strategic policy. This is a very good form of synergy between the local government and Hajj organisers in providing the best services for the community,” Wahyudin stated. On the same occasion, Governor Yulius expressed his hope that in the future North Sulawesi could have its own Hajj embarkation point. This is considered important for increasing efficiency, comfort, and the quality of services for Hajj pilgrims.
