Bandung (ANTARA) - Commission I of the West Java Provincial Legislative Council has affirmed that all administrative requirements for the formation of the new autonomous region (DOB) of North Sukabumi Regency have been completed, and it is now awaiting a decision from the central government regarding the lifting of the moratorium.

Member of Commission I of the West Java DPRD, Yusuf Ridwan, stated that all administrative documents are complete and are currently at the central level for further processing.

“North Sukabumi Regency has been ready for a long time. Our task now is to push the central government regarding (the lifting of) the moratorium,” said Yusuf in an official statement in Bandung on Tuesday.

He appreciated the preparedness of the Sukabumi Regency Government, which is thorough, including the preparation of a contingency funding scheme to support the operations of the new region if the formation is approved.

According to Yusuf, the next step that the West Java DPRD will take is to coordinate with Commission II of the Indonesian House of Representatives to ensure the status of the regional formation moratorium.

“All regulations have been finalised. Now it depends on the central government’s response. We will question whether the moratorium is still in place or can be lifted,” he said.

He also invited all elements of society to continue monitoring the formation process up to the central level, as public support is important in strengthening political momentum.

Yusuf emphasised that the formation of North Sukabumi Regency is urgent to improve public services and equitable development in Sukabumi Regency.

“Even though there is currently budget efficiency, the formation remains a strategic priority for equitable development and bureaucratic effectiveness,” he stated.
